You are here: Home / Life Hacks / Active and Outdoorsy Types – Where do you keep your sports equipment when you’re not using it?

19th March 2017 By Jane Ritchie

We love sport as much as the next person. What we don’t love is the fact we’ve got to store equipment all over the house. It’s always where we don’t want it to be. And stumbling into it in the dark during the night can lead to a lot of language that’s not safe for kids. So what to do with your kit when you’re not using it?

A secure home for your sports equipment

Your equipment can often take up a lot of space. And with houses no longer being as spacious as they once were, you can end up with trip hazards (as well as unhappy family members and housemates). If you don’t have an empty garage or basement at your disposal you may have a problem. That’s where GTW can help. We offer storage solutions that fit every size of sports equipment.

What to do with out-sized or seasonal gear?

Give us a call. We offer space to store whatever you want. So from kayaks to spare saddles and from skis to paragliders, we’ll give you a secure place to keep them until you need them.

As secure as you’d keep it yourself

Our storage facility is an old bonded warehouse. Which means it’s a secure building. Add to that our modern security features and you’ve got somewhere you can trust to look after your kit as well as you would yourself. If you’re thinking of storing stuff in a garden shed, then make sure it’s secure. Thefts from sheds, at night especially, are fairly common. If all someone has to do to get their hands on your bike is force a lock, how secure do you think that is? And then you might have trouble with your insurance company over storing your stuff somewhere they don’t consider secure. Don’t compromise the security of the things you love. Make sure they’re as safe as they’d be if you kept them at home under lock and key.

Spend a couple of minutes cleaning your equipment

Your kit will pick up dirt when you’re using it. And it may get wet. So make sure whatever you’re storing is clean and dry before you lock it up. There are few things worse than retrieving your equipment to find that it’s growing mould.

Use your storage space wisely

It seems like a simple thing, but make sure you try to keep the items you’ll use more often at the front of your storage space. That will save you time (and effort) whenever you want to use your equipment. And once the season is over for that particular sport, rotate the items in your space.

Call time on badly stored sports kit

We’re happy to show you round our storage facilities. Our knowledgeable, friendly staff will be on-hand to help you find the most cost effective storage option.

Give us a call or pop in to see how we can help you make more of your space and enjoy your sports equipment when you need it, rather than falling over it in the dark and wondering why you bother.
